Boom of Second-hand phone market in UK
Boom of Second-hand phone market in UK

The United Kingdom has one of the biggest mobile-phone markets in the world. The ever growing population of the UK is one of the factor behind this increased market share. People are always opting for better smartphones that can help them in various aspects of life. That is the sole reason that people these days in the UK are going for second-hand or pre-owned mobile phones. We will include the reasons behind this boom in the second-hand phone market in the UK and why people are buying used phones later in this article.

Do you have the latest smartphone? Can you afford a brand new or latest smartphone? These are the two questions that everyone should ask from themselves before upgrading their device. By looking at living conditions in the UK it can be deduced that people are now smart and they are aware of prioritizing their needs. Back in early 2000s, when smartphones came into existence, people went gaga over buying the latest models in the market as soon as they were launched. But as the time passed, people became more aware of the high prices of the latest smartphones. But still some companies are selling their phones on high prices by their Outbound Marketing.

Below, there are some of the reasons behind the boom of second-hand phone market in the UK:

1.      High prices of new smart phones:

Apple has the biggest market share in the UK, when it comes to the smartphone industry. People are buying Apple devices as they are user friendly andmuch more. But these days, the phones that Apple is launching are too expensive to be bought by rational consumers. The biggest example that we can take here is that; back in 2007 when iPhone 1 was launched, the launching price of that smartphone was £499. Contrary to this, the latest iPhone XS and XS Max’s launching prices were £999 and £1,099 respectively.

You can see 100% raise in the launching price of iPhone in just 11 years. This raise in the launching price has awakened the people, and they are now prioritizing their needs. Buying an iPhone worth more than a thousand pounds sterling is not observed as an intelligent decision by people.

This is the most important reason that has encouraged the people to buy used phones.

2.      Less innovation in new smartphones:

Apple is launching new phones every year, but these phones aren’t worth it if we look at the innovation aspect. No doubt that Apple provided us with some innovation last year with the infinity display of iPhone X, but other than that, iPhone X had almost the same features as iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Let us provide you with a simple comparison between the features of iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and the latest iPhone XS;

  • Colour Scheme: The colour scheme of iPhones have been consistent since iPhone 5S. iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and iPhone XS all come in silver, space grey and gold colours. So, we are still waiting for some fun colours to be added by Apple to their iPhones rather than these three colours.
  • LCD: LCD is one of the biggest factors why iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are different. Yes, that is one of the innovation that iPhone provided its users with. iPhone 8 Plus have 5.5” retina HD display while iPhone X has 5.8” super retina HD display.
Apple did that right! But if, on the other hand, we compare the LCD’s of iPhone X and XS, they both are same and the price difference between these two is huge.
  • Camera: The rear cameras of all these devices are same i.e. Dual 12MP wide-angle and telephoto cameras. So why should people buy iPhone XS when it has the same camera as iPhone 8?
The front camera of all these models is also the same i.e. 7MP TrueDepth camera.
  • Security: iPhone 8 plus has the touch id (fingerprint sensor) through which you can unlock your iPhone from your finger prints. Apple introduced the feature of face recognition in iPhone X but unfortunately this overly hyped feature failed to work and impress the people even at the launch of iPhone X last year.
Although, Apple has improved this feature in iPhone XS. But this feature hadn’t had much of an impact on people in the UK, as they can easily and quickly unlock their phones with their fingers as compared to the failed attempts to unlock their device with their faces.
  • Water Resistance: Well when apple introduced the feature of water resistance in iPhone 7; that was a big innovation indeed! After that in iPhone 8, iPhone X and iPhone XS Apple has given the same feature, the only difference is that iPhone 8 and iPhone X are water resistant up to 1m depth for 30 minutes, while iPhone XS is water resistant up to 2m depth for 30 minutes.
That is a difference of 1m depth but unfortunately that’s not an innovation by Apple.
  • Charging: All of the three devices have the same mode of charging. Although the battery life is made better by Apple in each of these models.
  • Dual SIM: introducing dual SIM compatible iPhone XS was not an innovation at all. There are many other mobile phone companies that offered dual SIM feature way before it was launched in iPhone XS.

We can see from this brief comparison that the most popular phone in the UK “iPhone” is offering as such no great innovation for the people in its latest models. And on the other hand the prices of the latest models of iPhone are even crossing thousand pound sterling. So, this is clear that one can easily purchase a second hand iPhone 8 plus or even an iPhone 7 plus at much lower price than the latest one and can enjoy the same features.

Not only Apple, the other major competitors i.e. Samsung, Huawei, etc. are also doing the same thing every year. People these days in the UK are much intelligent and smart, and they are surely smarter than these latest smartphones. That is the major reason that people are opting for less costly second hand phones these days in the UK.

3.      Expensive accessories and parts:

Yes, the accessories for the latest phones are also very expensive. Let it be the phone’s cover, or a compatible charger, etc. The accessories of the expensive latest models of mobile phones are also very expensive. So it’s not just a one-time expense for buying the latest model, the list of expenses for that expensive phone goes on. Contrary to this, the accessories of the older models are comparatively cheaper and affordable.

There are many devices which help the users in using a smartphone these days. One such device is a smart watch. Smart watch helps people in various ways and it has made lives of the people easier. People want to buy these watches, but if they spend their whole month’s salary on the expensive latest smartphone, how would they afford a smart watch then? As discussed previously, people these days are smarter when taking such decisions. People in the UK are buying cheaper second hand phones, so that they can afford the other helping devices as well with their smartphones while being in their limited yet smart budget.

With all of this, the repairing costs of the latest models are also too high. As smartphones are becoming popular, people are taking less care of their phones. That is why every other person we know has a phone with a broken LCD. The parts and the repairing costs of the latest models are very expensive as compared to the parts of the older models. So, people in UK are going for second hand phones to afford the repair prices if they accidentally break their phone, as they can reliably be delivered by a domestic or international courier service.

Discussed above are some of the major reasons that people these days are giving more attention to buy used phones rather than going for the latest models. We at AlphaSmartPhones, also think that buying a used phone is an intelligent decision. The statistics of sales of the best-selling phone in the UK “iPhone” clearly shows a downfall in the recent years. The growth rate in the purchase of iPhones was steady from 2011 to 2014, i.e. approx. 15% each year. But it raised to approx.18% when iPhone 6s was launched, as people in the UK saw the innovation in that phone, but after that the growth in purchase of iPhone in the UK fell drastically, and in 2017 the growth rate surprisingly fell to a mere 2.7%.

These statistics act as a proof that people are not buying the latest smartphones now. The major reasons behind this decision by people in the UK are discussed briefly in this article.

How to Check How Old Your Phone is?
How to Check How Old Your Phone is?

Everyone owns a smartphone in today’s era, but have you ever wondered that how old your phone is? Yes, our phones also have age, we can check the age of our smartphone through some simple steps. We always care about purchasing good second hand or refurbished mobile phones, so that we can get all of the specifications that we want in limited budget. But beware! When purchasing a second hand phone, you should always consider the age of the smartphone. Age of the smartphone is always directly proportional to the performance of that specific set.

We will be sharing the advantages of purchasing less aged phones and also the ways to check the age of a phone later in this article. But first, let us see what does the age of a specific phone means!

By age of the specific smartphone, we mean that what is the exact manufacturing date of the smartphone. We all know the launching dates of the specific smartphones, but what we really don’t know that every phone is not manufactured on the specific manufacturing date. The smartphones are manufactured until a specific period of time till a new model comes in the market. So getting to know the exact date of manufacture of the phone is really important for you.

Below are some of the advantages of having a less aged phone:

1.      Performance:

The first and the foremost aspect of having a less aged smartphone is its performance. The performance of the less aged smartphone would always be better than the performance of the more aged one. The problem that lies here is the agedness of the components used in the mobile phones.

The mobile phones that we use are composed of different materials and they are built up of different small components. Many of these components wear off with the time. Let it be the components used in the mother board of the phone or the LCD. The performance of phone always goes down with time.

2.      Battery Life:

The second most important aspect is regarding the battery life of the smartphones. The battery life of the smartphones really depends upon the age of the smartphones. Although it also depends on other factors as well, like the charging habits of the previous user, etc. But the thing that always worsen the battery life of a smartphone is the age of that phone. With periodic charging for a long time, your device’s battery wore offs.

3.      Body:

Yes, the good body conditions are usually another advantage of having a less aged smartphone. The body of the smartphones are usually made up of aluminium and plastic. These two materials wore off not so quickly though, but these can wore off a little bit with to time. Body of the phone almost remains the same with time if it’s used properly.

But we really don’t know about the previous owner of the phone, and how he used the device. More aged the device is, more chances of it being damaged! There are certain things that can be pointed out at first site as broken, whenever we have a look at any phone e.g. display, sides, etc. But there are certain things that we cannot point out so easily, these things include the insides of a mobile phone. The material used in smartphones can be damaged if the phone is too old.

Now that you know the advantages of having a newer phone, we would let you know about how to check the age of your phone or any phone around you!

1.      Box Of The Phone:

The first and foremost thing that you should check is the box of your phone. Some mobile manufacturing companies usually put the manufacturing date of each mobile phone on its box. You can easily find the manufacturing date on the back side of the box. If you look at the back of the box of your phone, you will find a white sticker having quite a few words, symbols, digits and bar codes.

On this white sticker you might also find the manufacturing date of the smartphone. Manufacturing date is usually found under the bar codes on the sticker. To confirm the date, if you purchased a second hand phone, you must crosscheck the IMEI number written on the box and in the settings of your phone to confirm if the box is actually of your phone or not. If the IMEI number doesn’t match, then unfortunately the date on the box isn’t the true manufacturing date of your phone. In this case you would have to find the manufacturing date from some other method.

2.      Settings:

In some phones you might find the manufacturing date of your device in the settings app. The location where the manufacturing date might have been written varies though in every device. You would have to spend some time finding it.

The manufacturing date can be usually found in the “About Phone” tab in settings. You can search the manufacturing date in that, but in some phone the manufacturing date isn’t written straight away. You have to apply certain formulas to get the manufacturing date of your phone.

One such example is of Apple iPhones. You might find the manufacturing dates of iPhones in their serial numbers. The serial numbers are clearly shown in the About Phone part in setting of iPhones. The third digit of the serial number usually expresses about the manufacturing year e.g. 4 means 2014, 6 means 2016, and so on. Moreover, the fourth digit usually denotes the specific week of the year in which the iPhone was manufactured.

So, in iPhone’s case you would have to be much vigilant to find its manufacturing date. Or the simpler way is to search on Google. Just write the make and model of your phone and the serial number of your mobile phone. Usually the OEMs give this facility to the mobile phone owners to know about the history of their devices.

3.      Applications:

There are certain applications on Play Store that might help you in finding the age of your mobile phone. One of such app available on Play Store is “Phone info *Samsung*”, this app usually works for the Samsung’s manufactured smart phones. To find the manufacturing date of your phone, you simply have to download the application on your Samsung smartphone. When you open it, go to the “general” tab. You find the date of manufacturing of your Samsung phone there written e.g. 2016.03.01.

But this application is only tested on Samsung smartphone. You would have to check if the other manufacturer’s info apps show the manufacturing date of those phones or not.

4.      Manufacturing Codes:

Yes, if you know the manufacturing code of your smartphone, you might be able to find the manufacturing date of your smartphone. We used the word ‘might’ as manufacturing codes are usually not just OEM specific, they might be also model specific.

But you can try by entering ‘*#manufacturingcode#* or *#*#manufacturingcode#*#* into the dialler pad of your smartphone. Through this the service menu would be opened. You can easily check the manufacturing date of your smartphone through this.

If this doesn’t work as well, you would then have to look for the specific manufacturing code of your phone through Google and try to do this again.

Now that you know the way of checking the manufacturing date of your phone, and that you also know the benefits of having a less aged phone, you can be more careful when buying a second hand phone. At Alpha Smartphones, we have a wide range of Android phones and iPhones for sale. You can easily buy a less aged second-hand smartphone from us and make your life easier.

Best iPhone For You!
Best iPhone For You!

When we talk about the term ‘best’, it varies from person to person. We cannot set the bar by declaring only one iPhone as the best phone available in the market. Every iPhone that has ever launched has something amazing. So we cannot skip the others in the process of declaring only one iPhone as the ‘best.

Apple has raised the bar for other mobile phone manufacturing companies by the highest market share in the UK. How Apple reached there? Apple has always been committed in providing the best quality iPhones to the users so that they can have an impeccable experience while using this mobile phone. We cannot criticize any of the iPhones, as they all have some special features that can’t be ignored.

Moreover, we always look for the best iPhone whenever we are buying a second-hand or refurbished phone. We would let you know about the iPhones possessing the best features according to your preferences:

Display Size:

Display sizes of iPhones vary from one another in most of cases. Everyone likes different display sizes according to their preference. That is the sole reason that we cannot declare an iPhone best on the basis of its display size. But we can surely suggest you the best iPhone according to your preferences.

Small Display Size: If you don’t like bigger smartphones and you are comfortable with having a small one, then the best option for you in refurbished phones is iPhone 5S with 4” display. Looking at the fact that iPhones are getting bigger and bigger with time, we don’t want you to wait for a smaller iPhone to be launched anytime soon. The perfect decision for buying a small iPhone in this era would be iPhone 5S. You must be thinking that; ‘isn’t iPhone 5S a very old iPhone model?’ Well we can assure that this model is still not too old, as you can upgrade it to iOS 12 (the latest Apple Software). Yes, you can have the body of an older iPhone with the internal software of the latest one.

Medium Display Size: If you want an iPhone with a normal sized display then; iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 all are the best option for you. All of these models of iPhone possess 4.7” display that is generally not too big or not too small either. So if you want a phone that you can hold in your hand or put in your pocket as well as watch your favourite movies on, then these iPhones are perfect for you.

Large Display Size: Many people in the UK are fond of having larger displays in their iPhones. If you are one of these people, then you might like the plus series by Apple in iPhones. iPhone 6 plus, iPhone 6S plus, iPhone 7 plus and iPhone 8 plus have 5.5” inch display. With this display you can watch anything on your iPhone and feel good about the size and quality.

Camera:

Yes, the camera is another aspect that has to be perfect for many people around the UK. In today’s era, you must have the best camera in your mobile phone to be famous. You can become famous in your actual life with a good camera as you would have more friends that would love to take good pictures from your iPhone. With a good camera, you can become famous on social media platforms as well. People always seek for people that have good pictures on their profiles to follow. So having good pictures would increase the number of your followers on social media.

There are many iPhones available in the market that have dual rear cameras, which capture vibrant and beautiful pictures. Some of these iPhone models include; iPhone 7 plus, iPhone 8 plus and iPhone X. You can easily buy one of these refurbished iPhones according to your budget.

Slim iPhone:

Many people actually want their iPhone to be slimmer so that it can adjust in their hands and pockets easily. Apple has been trying to make its iPhones slimmer every year. But the slimmest iPhone ever launched is the iPhone 6, with a thickness of about 6.9mm. This iPhone was considered the slimmest phone of the era that it was launched in.

Although iPhone 6 was launched way back in 2014, but this iPhone almost has all the specifications that the latest models have. You can get second-hand iPhone 6 in cheaper rates only at Alpha Smartphones. You can buy this phone and make your life easier in terms of specifications and its slimness.

Better Battery Timing:

iPhones usually have better battery timings than its other competitors, but do you know about the iPhone that has the best battery timing ever? The battery timing cannot be judged by how much the iPhone takes to drain the whole charge. Firstly, battery timings depend on how much you use the phone and the settings that you set in your iPhone.

If you use the brightest light settings in your iPhone, the battery would surely drain faster. That is the reason that we always suggest you put your iPhone at the auto-brightness mode to prevent your phone from unnecessary battery drainage. The other thing that we always suggest is to turn off the unnecessary settings and unwanted applications from your iPhone including the mobile data and background apps.

Once you are done with these things, the battery life of your phone would automatically extend to a better level. Anyhow, we were talking about the best iPhone in terms of battery life! iPhone XS Max by far has the best battery timing than all of the previous iPhone models. But spending more than a thousand pounds on an iPhone isn’t a smart decision.

Despite iPhone XS Max, there are many other iPhone models that have great battery timings. These models include; iPhone 7, iPhone 7 plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus. These models have a better battery life as Apple eliminated the audio jack from these iPhones to adjust a bigger and better battery. No doubt the battery life of these iPhones is better than their predecessors, but you can easily extend the battery life of your iPhone by following the instructions described above.

Headphone Jack:

As mentioned above; Apple eliminated the audio jack from its latest iPhones to adjust a bigger battery. That was a good initiative that Apple took to extend the battery life of iPhones, but many people across the UK need an iPhone with an audio jack due to various reasons. Audio jack is a very useful feature in any smartphone to increase its connectivity.

All of the iPhones that were launched before the iPhone 7 have audio jacks in them. But the best one to purchase is the iPhone 6 and 6s if you want an audio jack in the phone. You can easily find second-hand iPhone 6 and 6s online on our website and can make your life easier with the best iPhones with an audio jack.

Home Button:

Most of us feel comfortable using the home button in iPhones, but you wouldn’t have this leverage in the newer models of iPhone. The home button was included in iPhones till iPhone 8 and 8 plus. The iPhones launched after iPhone 8 and 8 plus have the infinity display feature and due to this they don’t have a home button.

In iPhone 7 and iPhone 8, Apple introduced a future-forward home button with a fingerprint scanner in it. These both are the best iPhones for you if you want a home button on your iPhone.

After reading this article, you must have known that the term ‘best’ variates from person to person. But you can easily find the best iPhone for yourself while checking the features described above.

The Surprising Growth of Refurbished Smart Phones Market
The Surprising Growth of Refurbished Smart Phones Market

Who would have ever thought that a pre-owned phone could capture such a huge customer segment and grow to the size that we see it today? It wasn’t that many years ago that there were some whispers about the emergence of a pre-used phone, but no one paid it much attention. Some people were dubious while other completely dismissed it as a temporary buzz. Now it is a few years later, and refurbished phones have become a £ 14 billion global market as of the end of last year, and is predicted to grow even more in the coming years.

Anyone looking to buy a new phone these days definitely comes across the term “refurbished phones”, that is how widespread the trend is these days, especially with vendors like Amazon and Apple itself selling phones like that.

If you are one to research properly before you make a purchase then you must have surely come across the report issued by Counterpoint Research, the firm that examines global industry, shows that the market of phones that have been refurbished has grown 13% year on year, reaching 140 million units in 2017. In contrast, the smartphone market has only grown by about 3%, according to the same report, which is much less than the sale of refurbished smartphones.

Such a rapid growth has caught people by somewhat of a surprise. Why is it that it has become such a hot item in such a short time? Let’s take a look.

What does a “refurbished phone” even mean?

So much talk about a refurbished handset, but what does that even mean? Is it the same as a used phone, because they are nothing new under the sun? A phone is said to be refurbished when it is sold back or returned to a retailer, however, unlike a used or second-hand phone it is not sold again as it was received. Before it is sold again, it is inspected and fixed, if required, and tested tirelessly to avoid any issues. A demo unit can also be sold under the name of refurbished provided that it goes through all the same kinds of testing before it put up for sale.

Because the phones are no longer brand-new, they have been pre-owned, used, opened and repaired, they can no longer be sold at the same price as a new handset, so the retailers lower their prices in order to make a sale. This is why all the refurbished phones are much more affordable than a new smartphone. For instance, iPhone X that is sold for £999 brand-new but its refurbished counterpart maybe sold for about £790. Moreover, these phones that have been refurbished also come with a warranty that may be 30 days or few months that give you peace of mind.

So why have they grown so popular all of a sudden?

Who doesn’t want to save money, especially when you can get the same exact features for much less? Affordability has been one of the major factors contributing to the increased interest in the refurbished handsets.

The prices of the new smartphones are hitting the roof, which has made the customers seek satisfaction elsewhere. And refurbished smartphones have given them exactly that. In fact, it was mentioned in a Wall Street Journal report that the rising prices of the flagship smartphones are sending the customers towards the refurbished handsets. The money people can save on the smartphones these days can actually help them buy other electronic devices like a maybe a television or a laptop.

Some studies have shown that the customers have abandoned the new smartphones altogether and directed their attention solely towards the refurbished phones. The sale of the brand new phones have gone down this year. This may be due to lack of work in the innovation department compelling the customers towards better price options. Every new model launched in just a slight modification of the one before, so customers have started opting for the more affordable older models that are just as good as new.

The smartphone market has saturated thus it seems that companies are running out of mind-boggling ideas. And yet despite that, the prices are whopping high. The slight changes made in the body and in the software are not enough to justify the prices at which these phones are being offered. And so people have started thinking practically and developed a great interest in the refurbished smartphones instead.

Moreover, the upgrade cycles are also one of the other factors that have made refurbished handsets desirable. Previously the upgrade cycle was up to 24 months, but now there has been an unforeseen increase. The upgrade cycle in now rather close to 27 or 28 months. If you are looking to invest for the long term consider green ethical investments..

There is also the matter of electronic waste. While smartphones have no doubt become a necessity, the damages that it causes to the environment cannot be denied. Using refurbished phones is one way to help decrease the electronic waste in the environment. And it has, therefore, become a very appealing option to environmentalists.

So what does this increase mean for the smartphone industry?

The smartphone industry has surely been hit hard by the rise of the refurbished phones, so much so that giants like Apple and Samsung have stepped into the market themselves. This, however, doesn’t solve the issue for their new smartphones.

The critics are urging the companies to upgrade their research and development to provide innovation compelling enough to appeal to the customers. Just goodwill is no longer good enough to get the flagship phones going. They recommend that companies invest in more appealing areas such as augmented reality and other areas of artificial intelligence.

Since there is a lot of buzz about the new 5G network, people will be compelled to buy new models in order to take the next step. However, if the companies continue to shoot their prices higher than the skies then 5G may not be a good reason enough for the people to move away from the refurbished phones.

Those mobile phones were only used to make calls, and after a bit when newer mobile phones reached the market; they also had the option to SMS. In early 2000s, Nokia was the brand that gained the most popularity and almost everyone used to have Nokia mobile phone.

In that era, those mobile phones had changed the world for real as before that time people didn’t really had a portable option to be in contact with other people. Only after some years, the first smartphone was launched by Apple in 2007 and the first android phone was launched a year after in 2008. Apple introduced the new finger print touch in this phone. So what was really new in this Touch ID? Apple introduced a new technology in this iPhone in which the Touch ID was in the home button as an individual panel. This introduction made the fingerprint experience of the users better than the best at that time.

Other than the new Touch ID, Apple introduced dual rear cameras in iPhone 7 Plus. This was the first iPhone that possessed the dual rear cameras. The dual rear cameras included; a 12MP wide-angle camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. The dual rear cameras capture the picture simultaneously, so it has better and vibrant colours with great picture quality. The portrait mode of iPhone 7 Plus cameras stole the hearts of the people across the globe. The portrait mode offers more detailed picture with blurrier background.

How Samsung Galaxy S8 Phone Changed The World:

Back in 2017 this phone changed the perspective of people towards a mobile phone with a button. Samsung Galaxy S8 was the first phone in the Samsung S series to possess infinity display. You can see it like Samsung Galaxy S8 introduced us to the world of infinity displays. Before this mobile phone, no popular mobile phone model had an infinity display. People went crazy for having this phone with the infinity display feature and they did! The sales of Samsung went up when S8 was released.

How Samsung Galaxy S10 Phone Will Change The World:

Only some days after this phone is going to be launched by Samsung. Samsung Galaxy S10 is going to be the 10th anniversary phone of Samsung S series. We can judge the importance of this phone for Samsung as it is the 10th anniversary phone. Samsung is going to add some breath taking features in this mobile phone. The first and foremost feature that is making everyone excited to have this phone is that this phone would be without a notch. Oh yes! Samsung is finally ignoring the notch and introducing a real end-to-end infinity display. We were waiting for this like anything. Moreover, the front camera of this phone would be embedded at the right corner of the screen making it look more beautiful than ever. The mighty S10+ would possess dual front cameras, which is something never done by Samsung before.

What’s better: Refurbished or Used? Or Both?
What’s better: Refurbished or Used? Or Both?

This is a question that everyone seems to wonder about! Usually people think that used and refurbished phones are the same, but actually that is not true! Both of these categories come under the umbrella of pre-owned phones but these both have a huge difference. Difference between used and refurbished phones usually lies in the reliability of these both. But before judging which one of these is better we must know what used and refurbished phones are?

Difference Between Used and Refurbished Phones:

As discussed before these both categories are the pre-owned phones that are previously used by other people but the main difference between used and refurbished phones is described below:

Refurbished Mobile Phones – Used Vs. Refurbished Phones:

Refurbished mobile phones are the pre-owned phones that are repaired after they are bought from the previous owners of these phones. There are many online platforms available in the UK which offers the customers with the refurbished mobile phones. But these phones go through a proper process before they are listed on the websites for sale. The platforms that repair these mobile phones are usually known as mobile phone refurbishing or mobile phone recycling platforms. These platforms accept the newer models of mobile phones and purchase them from the users at good rates and after the purchase; the rest of the process is described below:

     Purchasing The Pre-Owned Phones:

There are many mobile phone recycling platforms available online that are accepting the comparatively newer models of mobile phones. The users usually sell their phones to these platforms at good rates.

     Examining The Pre-Owned Phones:

After the platform have purchased and transferred the payment to the previous owner of the phone, it starts the examination procedure. These platforms usually have professionals that are experienced and trained in examining the condition of the phones. After the phones have been checked thoroughly these professionals check all the hardware and software flaws present inside the phone. The checking procedure is such a thorough one that no flaw is missed while examining.

     Repairing The Pre-Owned Phones:

After all of the flaws the diagnosed from these pre-owned phones, all of those flaws are repaired with the best available parts in the market. The refurbishing platforms make sure that all of the parts used in the repair of these phones are genuine and are of the best quality.

      Re Examining The Phone:

After the phone has been repaired professionally and comprehensively, the mobile phone recycling platform again examines the phone thoroughly. In this examination; if any problem still persists then the mobile phone is again repaired and it is checked again after the repair. This process goes on until the phone comes in 100% working conditions.

     Listing On the Website:

Only after the mobile phone comes in 100% working conditions that phone is listed on the website for sale. These phones are the most reliable phones available in the market as they have been repaired professionally and comprehensively before being listed for sale. The mobile phone recycling platforms are so sure about the reliability of these refurbished mobile phones that most of them provide warranties of up to 12 month with the mobile phones that they are selling. Some of these also provide customers with return policies.

Used Mobile Phones – Used Vs. Refurbished Phones:

You would get to know the difference between used and refurbished phones; used mobile phones are the pre-owned mobile phones that don’t need any repair in order to come in 100% working conditions. These mobile phones might have scratches and dents on their body but they are in full working conditions. These mobile phones are checked once they are purchased from the previous owner and after checking their condition the mobile phones that are proven to be in full working conditions are listed up for sale. The mobile phone recycling platforms usually provide warranties with these phones as well as they are sure about their workability. These phones are also reliable but not as much as the refurbished mobile phones.

Is It Better To Buy a Refurbished Phone Or Used?

Used and refurbished phones are both reliable phones that can be purchased by the people in the UK. On many platforms there are refurbished and used phones for sale online from where you can easily buy one. But the reliability of these phones can only be judged by the reliability of the platform itself. There are many platforms in the UK that are offering used and refurbished phones but only some of them are reliable enough to buy a phone from. To check the reliability of the mobile phone recycling platform, you have to first check the reviews that the other customers have for that specific platform. You can easily find the reviews on the dedicated reviews websites present online i.e. TrustPilot. You have to go through all of the reviews as one bad comment can never judge the reliability of a platform, so you have to go through all of the reviews and check whether is the platform worth it to buy a phone from. The other thing that we must tell you is that you should always buy refurbished used phones with 12 month warranty. We suggest you this thing as only those platforms provide such long warranties with the mobile phones that have a complete trust on the working conditions of their mobile phones. Also you have to look for the platforms that are providing return policy with the mobile phones as well.

Final Verdict:

No one can’t really say if used phones are better or if refurbished phones are better in the fight of used vs. Refurbished phones. Both used and refurbished phones are safe to buy from a reliable platform. To find a reliable platform you don’t have to go any further and visit Alpha SmartPhones right now to enjoy extra perks on the purchase of used and refurbished mobile phones.
